Marlins Promote Gabe Kapler to General Manager

The Miami Marlins promoted Gabe Kapler to general manager on Monday, making him the No. 2 executive in baseball operations under president Peter Bendix. Kapler, who joined Miami as an assistant general manager in January 2024 and will focus on player, coach and staff development, becomes the sixth GM in Marlins history. He previously managed the Philadelphia Phillies (2018–19) and San Francisco Giants (2020–23), compiling a 456–411 record and leading the Giants to a franchise‑record 107 wins and the 2021 NL West title. The promotion came alongside internal front-office moves promoting Frankie Piliere to VP of amateur forecasting and player evaluation initiatives and Vinesh Kanthan to senior director of baseball operations.
