Broadway’s Cabaret to Close in October 2025

The Broadway revival of 'Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club' is set to close on October 19, 2025, after a 14-month run marked by high production costs and inconsistent box office performance, making it unlikely to recoup its estimated $23-24 million capitalization. Billy Porter and Marisha Wallace will take over as the Emcee and Sally Bowles on July 22, replacing Orville Peck and Eva Noblezada for the final 13 weeks, reprising the roles they played to acclaim in London's West End. The production opened in April 2024 with Eddie Redmayne and Gayle Rankin, earning nine Tony nominations but only winning Best Scenic Design. Despite an immersive transformation of the August Wilson Theatre into a Weimar-style nightclub, the show's bold staging did not yield sustained commercial success. In contrast, the London production remains a hit and has won a record-breaking seven Olivier Awards. Producers and director Rebecca Frecknall have expressed pride in the show's artistic achievements and its roster of star performers.
