Scott Mitchell Extradited, Charged with Binghamton Double Homicide

Scott Mitchell, 50, has been extradited from Florida and charged with two counts of second-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Daniel McCloe, 58, and Marshall VanOven, 55, whose bodies were discovered in a Binghamton home on February 5. Mitchell fled New York shortly after the victims were reported missing on February 3, leading to a multi-state search that included his capture in Daytona Beach, Florida, on February 12. Authorities had issued a reward for information on his whereabouts after his vehicle was found abandoned in South Carolina. Following his extradition on March 18, Mitchell was arraigned and is currently held at Broome County Jail, with the investigation still ongoing. Binghamton police are urging anyone with additional information to come forward. The cause of death for both victims has been ruled as homicide.
