SXSW 2025 Announces First Wave of Artists

The South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival has announced its first wave of artists for the 2025 edition, taking place from March 10-15 in Austin, Texas. The lineup features a diverse array of international and local talent, including notable acts like Twin Shadow, The Ting Tings, and the debut performance of Immersion, a collaboration between Colin Newman and Malka Spigel. This year's announcement comes after last year's controversy surrounding the festival's ties to military sponsors, prompting the removal of sponsors linked to the U.S. Army and defense contractor RTX Corporation. Among the 100+ artists announced are Australian bands Delivery and Dune Rats, as well as Irish acts Gurriers and Soda Blonde, who initially withdrew from SXSW 2024 in protest of those sponsors. The event aims to showcase emerging talent alongside established artists, reflecting a global scope with acts from various countries. More performers will be revealed in the coming months as the festival approaches its 40th anniversary.
