Global Housing Markets Cool Amid Sales Slowdown
Housing sales and supply declined sharply in major Indian cities such as Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Pune in Q2 2025, with only Delhi NCR and Chennai registering growth. At the same time, U.S. housing markets are also slowing, as South Florida experienced steep drops in residential sales and stalling price growth, particularly in condo transactions. Nationwide, existing-home sales in the U.S. reached their slowest pace since 2009 in May, as high mortgage rates and prices reduced demand despite increased listings. Home price growth nearly stopped across the country, with Florida seeing the most significant slowdown and more price cuts. In Wisconsin, buyers face intense competition for a limited housing inventory due to years of underbuilding. Overall, rising inventory, affordability challenges, and economic uncertainty are contributing to a global cooling in housing markets.
