Driver Faces Charges After Fatal Bicycle Collision In Northeast Charlotte
A fatal collision occurred early Sunday morning in northeast Charlotte when 59-year-old bicyclist Paul Joseph Rucker was struck from behind by a Ford Focus driven by 44-year-old Kesha Latamria Jackson while riding westbound in the middle of E. W.T. Harris Boulevard. Rucker was found unresponsive at the scene and pronounced dead, with toxicology results pending to determine if impairment was a factor. Jackson, who was not impaired and not speeding, was charged with driving while license revoked, failure to register, and no liability insurance. A passenger in Jackson's vehicle was not injured, and both refused medical treatment. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Major Crash Investigation Unit is actively investigating, and authorities are seeking witnesses to provide information. Rucker's family has been notified, and local news outlets have highlighted the tragedy to honor his memory and encourage community support.
