Man Arrested After Attacking LDP Headquarters in Tokyo

On October 19, Tokyo police arrested 49-year-old Atsunobu Usuda after he threw several Molotov cocktails at the headquarters of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and crashed his van into the security fence of the prime minister's office. The incident, which occurred shortly before the general election scheduled for October 27, resulted in no reported injuries, although a police vehicle was partially burned. Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba condemned the violence, emphasizing that democracy should not yield to such acts. The LDP, facing declining popularity due to recent scandals, plans to continue its campaign despite the attack.
