The Islamic State (ISIL) has claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing in Kabul that killed at least six people, targeting the Taliban's prosecution service. The attack occurred as government employees were leaving work, and while ISIL reported over 45 casualties, Taliban authorities confirmed six deaths and 13 injuries. The bombing was described by ISIL as retaliation for the treatment of Muslims held in Taliban prisons, particularly following the reactivation of the Bagram detention facilities. Despite a decrease in violence since the Taliban's takeover, ISIL's Khorasan affiliate remains a significant threat, frequently targeting Taliban officials and civilians. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid previously asserted that ISIL's presence has been suppressed and poses no threat, a claim contradicted by the recent attack. This incident marks the first suicide bombing claimed by ISIL since March, when a similar attack occurred in Kandahar.
