Live Post-WWII Grenade Secured in Rankin County Home

On August 7, law enforcement and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams responded to a residence on Margaret Lane in the Cleary community of Rankin County after a live grenade was discovered. The grenade, identified as a post-World War II era device, had been stored by a now-deceased veteran who previously lived at the home. EOD experts secured the grenade and later detonated it at a safe location. Due to the distance between homes, no evacuations were necessary, and no injuries were reported.
