Stoke-on-Trent Sets Guinness World Record for Largest Cream Tea Party Across 169 UK Venues

Stoke-on-Trent celebrated its centenary by breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest cream tea party held across multiple venues, bringing together around 15,000 people at 194 locations, including five officially verified venues. The event surpassed the previous record of 667 participants set in 2015 by Yorkshire Building Society, with 777 people enjoying tea and scones at the verified sites. The celebration included participation from Stoke-on-Trent's twin city Erlangen in Germany and was organized by a coalition of local organizations, including YMCA North Staffordshire and Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce. Lord Mayor Steve Watkins praised the event as a demonstration of the city’s pride, resilience, and community spirit, emphasizing the motto “Vis unita fortior” (united strength is stronger). The tea party was not only a record-breaking event but also a symbol of unity and celebration of Stoke-on-Trent’s 100 years of city status. Organizers and local partners highlighted the achievement as a testament to what the community can accomplish when coming together.
