Packers, Seahawks Set For Joint Preseason Practices In Green Bay

The Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers will hold a joint practice on August 21 in Green Bay ahead of their preseason game on August 23, marking the Seahawks' second consecutive year participating in joint practices under head coach Mike Macdonald. These practices are part of a growing NFL trend to supplement the shortened three-game preseason with additional competitive drills, a strategy embraced by the Packers under coach Matt LaFleur, who has consistently scheduled joint practices since 2019 except during the 2020 pandemic. Macdonald values these sessions for their controlled environment, physicality, and team bonding, which he believes benefits rookies and helps prepare the team better than preseason games alone. The Seahawks' general manager John Schneider has strong ties to the Packers, adding another layer of connection between the teams. Alongside the Seahawks-Packers joint practice, the Packers will also hold a joint practice with the Indianapolis Colts on August 14, continuing their commitment to this approach. In total, 29 NFL teams will participate in joint practices during the 2025 preseason, reflecting a league-wide shift to maximize preparation and player evaluation.
