Venice, TIFF Announce Major Film Premieres
The 2025 Venice Film Festival has announced a high-profile lineup, including the premieres of Benny Safdie’s 'The Smashing Machine' starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, Luca Guadagnino’s '#MeToo'-inspired 'After the Hunt' with Julia Roberts, and Guillermo del Toro’s 'Frankenstein' featuring Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi. These films will later have their North American premieres at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), which has added over 50 titles, including directorial debuts by Aziz Ansari, Maude Apatow, Brian Cox, and James McAvoy. TIFF’s Special Presentations section will also feature new Korean films including 'The Ugly,' 'Project Y,' and Netflix’s 'Good News.' The festival opens September 4 with the documentary 'John Candy: I Like Me' and closes September 13 with Anne Émond’s 'Peak Everything.' Both events are set to showcase a blend of major Hollywood and international talent. This marks a milestone year for TIFF as it celebrates its 50th anniversary with a diverse and star-studded program.
