Multiple Moderate Earthquakes Reported Across Indonesia
Indonesia experienced several moderate earthquakes on August 10 and 11, 2025, as reported by the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG). On August 11, a magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck near Atambua, East Nusa Tenggara, at a depth of 68 km, and another 4.6 magnitude quake occurred near Tobelo, North Maluku, at a shallow depth of 10 km. The previous day, August 10, a magnitude 4.9 earthquake hit 18 km west of Seluma Regency, Sumatra, at 23 km depth with no reported casualties or damage. Another 4.9 magnitude earthquake was recorded near Bengkulu at a depth of 24 km, likely felt as light vibrations but without significant damage. Additionally, a magnitude 4.1 earthquake occurred near Jayapura, Papua, at a shallow depth of 19 km but was not reported felt. These quakes reflect Indonesia's ongoing seismic activity due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire.
