Amazon, SAP Plan €7.8B European Sovereign Cloud Launch

Amazon Web Services (AWS) and SAP SE are expanding their collaboration by integrating SAP Sovereign Cloud capabilities into the AWS European Sovereign Cloud, supported by a planned €7.8 billion investment from Amazon. This initiative aims to serve public sector organizations and highly regulated industries across Europe by providing secure, compliant cloud solutions that support data residency, operational autonomy, and resiliency. The AWS European Sovereign Cloud will launch its first region in Brandenburg, Germany, by the end of 2025 and will feature SAP Business Technology Platform and SAP Cloud ERP to manage critical business processes and sensitive data. The partnership leverages SAP's expertise in secure, regulated cloud applications and AWS's infrastructure and operational capabilities, enhancing AI innovation while ensuring compliance with digital sovereignty requirements. SAP Sovereign Cloud capabilities are already in use in regions including Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Canada, and India, marking this collaboration as a significant milestone for European customers. Both companies emphasize their shared vision to provide advanced sovereignty solutions that enable organizations to innovate securely and compliantly.
