Qatar Airways Places Largest Widebody Engine Order With GE Aerospace Boosting North Carolina Jobs

Qatar Airways has placed the largest widebody engine order in GE Aerospace's history, purchasing over 400 engines, including 60 GE9X and 260 GEnx models, to power its Boeing 777-9 and 787 aircraft. This deal supports nearly 2,000 GE Aerospace workers across North Carolina, including those in Wilmington, Asheville, Durham, and West Jefferson, where advanced and rotating parts critical to engine performance are produced. The agreement also includes provisions for maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for these engines. Since its launch, the GEnx engine family has accumulated over 62 million flight hours and powers two-thirds of all Boeing 787 aircraft in service, while the GE9X is the world’s largest and most fuel-efficient jet engine. GE Aerospace generates 55% of its revenue from international engine sales and services, and this record-setting deal reflects the strong and ongoing partnership with Qatar Airways.
