Body believed to be missing pilot recovered near Mount Jefferson
The body believed to be that of missing Las Vegas pilot Michael Martin was recovered from the Mount Jefferson area by Heavy D Sparks Recovery at an elevation of 11,300 feet. Martin, 65, disappeared after departing from North Las Vegas Airport on January 2, with his family reporting him missing on January 5. His plane, found on January 18, was located near Mount Jefferson, but recovery efforts were initially hampered by high winds and difficult terrain. The crash was deemed non-survivable, and the body is pending official identification by the Clark County Coroner's Office. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash, and the remains have been transported to Las Vegas for autopsy. The discovery brings some closure to Martin's family after weeks of uncertainty.
