Eaton plans $340M transformer facility in South Carolina, creating 700 jobs

Eaton, a leader in power management technologies, is expanding its operations in South Carolina with a $340 million investment to build a new manufacturing facility for three-phase transformers in Union County. This expansion will create 700 new jobs and marks Eaton's 11th facility in the state, aimed at addressing the ongoing transformer shortage and increasing demand from utilities and data centers. Production and hiring at the new Jonesville site are expected to begin in 2027, as the company retrofits an existing 861,000-square-foot facility. Eaton's investment will also include collaboration with local schools for workforce training and has been supported by state economic development incentives. The project aligns with Eaton's broader strategy to enhance its manufacturing capabilities in North America, contributing to over $1 billion in investments since 2023.
