Pakistan, China Expand Defence Aviation Cooperation

President Asif Ali Zardari, during a 10-day state visit to China, reaffirmed the commitment of Pakistan and China to expand their cooperation in defence production and aviation, further deepening their strategic partnership. He toured the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), marking the first time a foreign head of state visited the complex, and was briefed on advanced aerospace projects including the J-10C fighter jet, co-production of the JF-17 Thunder, the J-20 stealth fighter, unmanned aerial vehicles, and integrated command-and-control systems. Zardari highlighted the significant role of these aircraft in strengthening the Pakistan Air Force, especially during recent military operations in 2025. Additionally, he traveled on China's high-speed rail network, praising its environmental benefits and technological innovations that could inspire Pakistan's development. The visit underscores the enduring and multifaceted China-Pakistan partnership, encompassing defence, aviation, and sustainable transport advancements. These efforts align with broader initiatives like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor aimed at bolstering bilateral ties.
