Nottinghamshire Offers Grants for Waste Reduction Projects
Glasgow City Council has revised its emissions-based parking permit scheme, reducing costs for more polluting vehicles following public consultation. The new fees will range from £80 to £225, down from previous proposals, with the first carbon-based permits expected to be issued this summer. The council aims to link parking costs to carbon emissions to encourage the use of cleaner vehicles and support sustainable transport options, given that private vehicles are the largest source of carbon emissions in the city. Meanwhile, Nottinghamshire County Council is inviting local community groups and charities to apply for grants of up to £1,000 to fund projects focused on waste reduction and recycling. This initiative aims to foster a culture of sustainability at the community level, having previously supported a variety of projects including recycling hubs and upcycling initiatives. Overall, both Glasgow and Nottinghamshire are taking steps to address environmental issues through innovative local policies and funding opportunities.
