SNL Documentary to Celebrate 50th Anniversary

NBC is set to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live with a three-hour documentary titled 'Ladies & Gentlemen… 50 Years of SNL Music', co-directed by Ahmir 'Questlove' Thompson and Oz Rodriguez. The special will air on January 27, 2025, and will feature over 50 interviews with musical guests including Elvis Costello, Mick Jagger, and Billie Eilish, highlighting iconic performances and behind-the-scenes stories from the show's history. Questlove expressed excitement about revisiting archival footage, likening the experience to a time machine. This documentary is part of a larger celebration, which includes a four-part docuseries and a live special in February. The film aims to delve into SNL's impact on music and culture over the decades. The project is executive produced by SNL creator Lorne Michaels alongside Questlove and others.
