Georgia Couple Charged in Animal Cruelty Case

Shawn Hirschbine, 51, and Deanna Sue Huff, 64, from Woodbine, Georgia, face 252 charges of animal cruelty following the discovery of a school bus filled with neglected animals in Adams County on June 15, 2024. The animals, found in deplorable conditions, included ducks, chickens, turkeys, dogs, a pony, and a bull, many of which showed signs of malnutrition and sexual abuse. Hirschbine is currently in custody in West Virginia on an unrelated warrant, while Huff remains at large, prompting police to seek public assistance in locating her. Both individuals have been charged with aggravated animal cruelty and neglect, and Hirschbine faces additional charges related to weapons possession. A six-month investigation revealed that Hirschbine allegedly filmed sexual acts with animals for profit, intensifying the severity of the charges. The SPCA has taken custody of the animals, which are now being rehabilitated after their traumatic ordeal.
