Hong Kong Launches Well-being Design Guide for Public Housing

The Hong Kong Housing Bureau has introduced a comprehensive 'Well-being Design Guide' aimed at enhancing public housing environments by incorporating features such as multipurpose sports halls, increased greenery, and age-friendly facilities. Developed after consulting over 3,000 residents across various estates, the guide outlines eight key well-being concepts including health, sustainability, and community connection. A pilot program will refurbish five older estates, with completion expected by 2027, and emphasizes features to support elderly residents' engagement and mobility. Housing Secretary Winnie Ho Wing-yin expressed hopes that these guidelines would influence future housing tenders and inspire private developers. The initiative reflects a commitment to creating inclusive, supportive living environments for diverse community needs.
