Tropical Storm Yagi Claims 14 Lives in Philippines
Tropical Storm Yagi, locally known as Enteng, has caused at least 14 fatalities in the Philippines, primarily due to landslides and flooding. The storm made landfall in Casiguran, Aurora province, and has since moved northwest into the South China Sea, sustaining winds of 75 km/h. Significant casualties were reported in Antipolo, where three individuals, including a pregnant woman, died from a landslide, and others drowned in swollen rivers. The storm has prompted the closure of schools and government offices in Manila and nearby provinces, with thousands of travelers stranded due to suspended sea travel and canceled flights. Authorities continue search and rescue operations for missing persons, with warnings of further landslides and flooding across northern regions. Yagi is expected to strengthen into a typhoon as it progresses toward southern China.
