Minnesota Paving Plans 300 Layoffs, 14 Facility Closures
Minnesota Paving & Materials, a leading provider of asphalt, aggregate, and paving services across central and southern Minnesota, announced it will permanently close 14 facilities by December 19, 2025. These closures will result in nearly 300 employees, specifically 297 workers, losing their jobs across locations including Owatonna, Comfrey, New Ulm, Kasota, Becker, Mankato, Rogers, Rosemount, Waite Park, St. Cloud, and Lakeland. The company, which evolved from four local companies and has roots dating back to 1861, notified the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development ahead of the layoffs. The parent company, New York-based CRH, declined to comment citing a quiet period before its upcoming earnings announcement. Details regarding the reasons for the closures or potential job offers for affected employees at other facilities were not disclosed. Minnesota Paving & Materials specializes in paving, construction, and materials supply across central and southern Minnesota.
