A construction worker in Louisville was successfully rescued after being trapped under 10 to 12 feet of rubble for nearly nine hours. The incident occurred during a demolition project when the worker fell into a void and was buried under gravel, dirt, and concrete debris. Rescue teams utilized cranes, ladders, and hand tools to carefully extract him, ensuring his safety as he remained conscious and able to communicate throughout the ordeal. Fire Chief Brian O'Neill noted that the worker was fortunate to have a small void space that allowed him to breathe. After his rescue, he was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital and is expected to recover. The mayor praised the firefighters for their meticulous and heroic efforts in saving the worker's life.
