Sturgill Simpson Performs Hurricane Relief Concert

Sturgill Simpson, recovering from a vocal cord injury and now performing under the name Johnny Blue Skies, shifted his concert from Asheville to Cary, North Carolina, to hold a benefit show for Hurricane Helene relief, which devastated western North Carolina. The storm resulted in significant casualties and left many without services, prompting Simpson to support recovery efforts through his performance. Proceeds from the concert will go to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund, part of a series of benefit events across the state featuring various artists. In addition, Bonnie Raitt announced a benefit concert in Charlotte for November 20, which will also support hurricane relief efforts, with all proceeds directed to the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina. Raitt's original concert date has been rescheduled due to the hurricane's impact. This collective response highlights the music community's commitment to aiding disaster recovery in the region.
