Blackstone-backed AirTrunk plans $3B Saudi AI Data Center Campus
HUMAIN, Saudi Arabia's national AI company owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), has partnered with AirTrunk, a data center platform backed by Blackstone and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, to invest approximately $3 billion in building a hyperscale data center campus in Saudi Arabia. This initiative aims to support the Kingdom's Vision 2030 by enhancing digital infrastructure to meet growing demands for AI, cloud computing, and high-performance data processing, contributing to economic diversification away from oil. HUMAIN will oversee local delivery, leveraging AirTrunk's engineering and operational expertise from its successful Asia-Pacific data center operations. The partnership marks AirTrunk's first entry into the Middle East and underscores Saudi Arabia's ambition to become a global AI and digital innovation hub. Executives from both companies emphasized the project's role in creating scalable, secure, and sustainable data center capacity to accelerate technological advancement and global competitiveness. This collaboration also aligns with broader efforts to localize digital assets in the Middle East and strengthen the region's digital ecosystem.
