The Swedish Prosecution Authority has closed its investigation into Dutch artist Joost Klein concerning alleged threatening behavior towards a female production crew member during the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. Klein was disqualified from the contest after an incident where he reportedly hit the camerawoman's film camera, but the investigation found insufficient evidence to prove that his actions were intended to provoke serious fear. Senior prosecutor Fredrik Jönsson stated that the evidence did not support claims of malicious intent, leading to the decision to drop the case. Klein has consistently denied wrongdoing, and witnesses did not characterize the incident as threatening. Following this conclusion, Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS expressed concerns over the proportionality of the disqualification and is uncertain about future participation in Eurovision. The investigation's closure may influence the Netherlands' plans for the next contest in 2025.
