Hollywood Actor Rupert Everett Pulls Pints Supporting Wiltshire Pub Revival

Rupert Everett, the Hollywood actor known for films such as Another Country and My Best Friend’s Wedding, has been volunteering at The Swan, a rural pub in Enford, Wiltshire, to help keep it open amid difficulties faced by rural pubs. After the pub closed in June due to rising costs and the departure of its tenant, the local community formed a group of about 30 volunteers, including Everett, to run the establishment temporarily. Everett expressed the importance of the pub as the village's social hub and has joined CAMRA to support real ale and local breweries. The pub, which has won awards in the past, has faced challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ukraine war's economic impact, and the cost-of-living crisis. Everett has been pulling pints and working shifts behind the bar while also hoping to return to acting, including a possible sequel to My Best Friend’s Wedding. The community’s efforts highlight the critical role such pubs play in rural life and the determination to preserve them despite ongoing hardships.
