Murder investigation launched after 93-year-old found dead in Stockport

A murder investigation has been launched after Judith Zussman, a 93-year-old great-grandmother, was found dead at her home on Altrincham Road in Gatley, Stockport. A 39-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and has been detained under the Mental Health Act. Judith's family, describing her as a much-loved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and requested privacy during their loss. Police have assured the community that this is being treated as an isolated incident, with no wider threat to the public, and an increased police presence will remain in the area for reassurance. Due to previous police contact with the deceased, the case has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct for review. The investigation is ongoing, with the family being supported by specialist officers.
