Four suspects arrested on drug charges in Bali could face execution under Indonesia's strict laws. The two Thai nationals, Rachanon Jongseeha and Woranawan Wongsuwan, were apprehended at the airport on September 8 with nearly 2 kg of meth and ecstasy concealed in drink packets. Two Indonesians, accused of ordering the drugs, were also arrested. If found guilty, all four could face death by firing squad, continuing Indonesia's history of harsh penalties for drug offenses. The country last executed drug offenders in July 2016, and numerous convicted smugglers remain on death row. In addition to these arrests, two European nationals were also detained on separate drug charges in July, highlighting ongoing drug enforcement efforts in Bali.
