Five individuals were arrested for throwing stones at the Durg-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express during its trial run in Chhattisgarh's Mahasamund district. The incident, which occurred near Bagbahara railway station, resulted in damage to the windows of three coaches (C2-10, C4-1, and C9-78). The arrests come just days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to flag off the train for its regular run on September 16. The suspects, identified as Shiv Kumar Baghel, Devendra Chandrakar, Jeetu Tandi, Lekhraj Sonwani, and Arjun Yadav, have been charged under Section 153 of the Railway Act, 1989, and could face up to five years in prison if convicted. One of the accused, Baghel, is related to a local Congress corporator. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) quickly responded to the incident, leading to the swift apprehension of the culprits.
