Elvis Smylie earns PGA Championship exemption in North Carolina

Australian golfer Elvis Smylie, aged 23, has received a special exemption to compete in the upcoming US PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, North Carolina, marking his US major tournament debut. Smylie earned this opportunity after winning the 2024-2025 Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit, following the precedent set by previous winners who also received late exemptions. While this will be his first US major, Smylie has prior major experience, having played in last year's Open Championship at Royal Troon. His recent successes include victories at the WA Open and Australian PGA Championship, as well as strong performances on the DP World Tour. Smylie's inclusion brings the number of Australians in the PGA Championship field to six, joining notable compatriots like Jason Day and Adam Scott. He is also set to compete in this year's Open Championship at Royal Portrush.
