Xiaomi Unveils YU7 SUV to Compete with Tesla

Xiaomi has officially revealed its new electric SUV, the YU7, designed to compete with Tesla’s Model Y in the burgeoning electric vehicle market. The YU7, which shares design elements and a platform with Xiaomi's successful SU7 sedan, is expected to feature a dual-motor powertrain delivering a combined output of 681 horsepower, with a top speed of 253 km/h. The SUV measures 4,999mm in length, making it larger than the Model Y, and is anticipated to offer a range of over 400 miles with battery options of 94.3kWh and 101kWh. The YU7 is set to be officially launched in June or July 2025, and Xiaomi aims to leverage its established success in EVs to penetrate the competitive SUV segment. With its strategic partnerships and a tech-forward approach, Xiaomi seeks to differentiate itself in a market dominated by established players. The early registration with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is intended to expedite testing and development ahead of launch.
