WaterTower Music Releases John Murphy’s Superman Soundtrack Globally

The 2025 film "Superman," directed by James Gunn, features a new musical score that honors John Williams' iconic 1978 theme while introducing fresh compositions by John Murphy and David Fleming. Murphy reimagines the classic theme with electric guitar and sweeping new motifs for key characters like Lois Lane and Lex Luthor, blending orchestral timelessness with experimental elements, while Fleming adds emotional depth through bold orchestral arrangements representing various aspects of Superman's world. The official soundtrack, released by WaterTower Music, is available globally across digital platforms, with physical formats forthcoming, and includes key tracks such as "Raising the Flag" and "Home." Gunn also curated character-inspired playlists reflecting the film's punk rock and emotional tones, connecting the new score to the legacy of the original movie. Additionally, Warner Bros. has made a 53-minute documentary on the making of the 1978 "Superman: The Movie" available on YouTube, featuring insights from the original cast and crew about the film's directing style, special effects, and John Williams' score. The new film will be released in theaters and IMAX nationwide on July 11, 2025.
