Jesse Plemons Cast in Hunger Games Prequel

Jesse Plemons has been cast as a young Plutarch Heavensbee in 'The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping,' a prequel film based on Suzanne Collins' latest novel and set 24 years before the original series during the 50th Hunger Games, known as the Second Quarter Quell. Plemons takes on the role previously portrayed by the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, with whom he worked in 'The Master.' The film is directed by Francis Lawrence and written by Billy Ray. Joseph Zada will play Haymitch Abernathy, Whitney Peak will portray Lenore Dove Baird, and McKenna Grace will appear as Maysilee Donner. Lionsgate executives and producers praised Plemons as a 'dream' casting, emphasizing his ability to honor Hoffman's legacy while bringing a fresh interpretation. The movie is scheduled for release on November 20, 2026.
