Utah Mammoth Acquire JJ Peterka from Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres have traded 23-year-old winger JJ Peterka to the Utah Mammoth for defenseman Michael Kesselring and forward Josh Doan, with no draft picks involved. Peterka, after a breakout 68-point season, signed a five-year, $38.5 million extension with Utah, helping the Mammoth avoid restricted free agency. The trade was reportedly prompted by Peterka's desire to leave Buffalo, rather than the Sabres seeking to move him. Kesselring, 25, posted 29 points in 82 games last season, and Doan, also 23, tallied 19 points in 51 games. Utah aims to strengthen its offense with Peterka, while Buffalo gains defensive depth and a developing forward.
