Four Inducted into WSL Hall of Fame 2024

Rebecca Welch has made history as the first referee inducted into the Women's Super League (WSL) Hall of Fame, joining former England internationals Alex Scott, Steph Houghton, and Gilly Flaherty. Welch, who officiated major tournaments including the FIFA Women's World Cup and the Paris Olympic Games, retired earlier this year and now works with PGMOL to mentor new officials. Flaherty, known for her record WSL appearances, and Houghton, a decorated captain at Manchester City, join the Hall of Fame after successful careers. Scott, a former Arsenal player with 21 trophies, is also honored for her contributions to women's football. The four inductees will be celebrated at a ceremony in January 2025, continuing the legacy of previous inductees like Rachel Yankey and Fara Williams. The WSL Hall of Fame, established in 2021, recognizes significant contributors to women's football.
