Videos Prompt New Probe Demands in Kyren Lacy Case

Videos and documents released by Kyren Lacy’s attorney and HTV appear to show Lacy’s Dodge Charger was about 72 yards behind the Dec. 17 Lafourche Parish crash, and body‑camera footage a lawyer says shows a trooper coaching a witness, raising questions about the Louisiana State Police’s original account. Louisiana State Police maintain their finding that Lacy’s reckless driving while approaching oncoming traffic precipitated the fatal collision and say those findings were presented to the 17th Judicial District Court to obtain an arrest warrant. The crash killed 78‑year‑old Herman Hall; Lacy, a former LSU wide receiver charged in the case, died by suicide in April before he was scheduled to appear in court. The Louisiana Democratic Party, the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus and civil‑rights groups are calling for independent, criminal and federal investigations and demanding accountability. Lawmakers allied with Democrats say they will push proposed 'Lacy Law' legislation to penalize false reporting by law enforcement and are urging the attorney general, governor’s office and State Police to cooperate as the matter develops.
