Correctional Service Canada Seizes Over $350,000 Contraband Across Multiple Federal Institutions
Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) has reported multiple seizures of contraband items including drugs such as methamphetamine, hashish, and THC, as well as unauthorized items like vaping devices and cell phones, across various federal institutions including the Federal Training Centre, Stony Mountain Institution, Drumheller Institution, and Bowden Institution in late October 2025. The total estimated value of these seizures ranges from $50,000 to $150,890 per institution. CSC employs tools such as ion scanners and drug-detection dogs to prevent contraband from entering prisons and works closely with police to investigate these incidents. Additionally, CSC has set up a toll-free tip line (1-866-780-3784) for anonymous reporting to enhance security and prevent drug trafficking and use within institutions. The CSC continues to heighten its security measures to maintain a safe environment for inmates, staff, and visitors. These efforts reflect a sustained institutional focus on combating contraband in Canadian federal prisons.
