TV star Ross Kemp is leading a new campaign called Pay Your Pension Some Attention, aimed at encouraging UK adults to prioritize their pension savings alongside their physical health. Kemp, known for his roles in EastEnders and other television projects, participates in a fitness-themed routine to highlight the importance of building financial strength for the future. Research cited in the campaign reveals that nearly one in five adults prioritize fitness over saving for retirement, with 37% making healthy lifestyle changes but only 29% organizing their finances for later life. The campaign, coordinated by the Association of British Insurers (ABI) and Pensions UK, urges individuals to track down any old pensions, check current pension balances, and estimate future financial needs through a simple three-step plan. Financial adviser Bola Sol supports the effort, emphasizing that retirement planning requires early and consistent action much like physical fitness. The initiative stresses that while many UK adults have workplace pensions, a significant number lose track of them or fail to regularly contribute, underscoring the need for greater pension awareness and engagement.
