The Invictus Games Foundation has received an unprecedented six expressions of interest to host the 2029 Invictus Games, including a compelling bid from Kyiv, Ukraine, despite ongoing conflict and geopolitical challenges. Founded by Prince Harry, the multi-sport event supports wounded and sick veterans and active military personnel, focusing on recovery and rehabilitation. Ukraine's proposal underscores Kyiv's experience in hosting major international events and its commitment to using the Games to enhance veteran healthcare through innovative recovery services, supported by a multi-ministerial commission. Prince Harry has shown continued support for Ukraine's veterans, exemplified by his visit to wounded soldiers in Lviv earlier this year. Other bidders include Aalborg (Denmark), the Veneto Region (Italy), Abuja (Nigeria), Daejeon (South Korea), and San Diego (USA), reflecting global enthusiasm for the Games' mission. The host city for 2029 is expected to be announced next summer, following a review and shortlisting process by the Invictus Games Foundation.
