Montgomery County Arrests Two Men Linked to Multiple Teen Shootings in Silver Spring
Montgomery County Police arrested Jhony Steve Rosales Castillo and Juan Carlos Gutierrez-Hernandez in connection with two fatal shootings of 17-year-old boys in Silver Spring, Maryland. The suspects face multiple charges including two counts of first-degree murder of a minor, one count of attempted first-degree murder, and firearm possession under the age of 21. The first shooting occurred on August 19, killing Jaril Verde Murillo, and the second on September 5 at Local Branch Park, where 17-year-old Charly Blayner Vail Lucas was fatally shot and another 21-year-old was critically injured. Police linked the two shootings through evidence collected at the scenes and during a search warrant execution at a Silver Spring home. The suspects were apprehended with the assistance of SWAT, and firearms along with additional evidence were seized. Authorities are holding the suspects pending a bond hearing, and investigations remain ongoing.
