Tarantino's 'Whole Bloody Affair' Gets Wide Release

Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair—the director’s single, original unrated edit that stitches Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 into a roughly 258-minute epic—will receive its first nationwide theatrical release from Lionsgate on December 5, 2025. The combined cut removes Vol. 1’s cliffhanger and Vol. 2’s recap to present the story continuously, and the theatrical edition adds a never-before-seen 7.5-minute animated sequence reportedly expanding the film’s anime material. The release includes other reported tweaks to sequences such as the Crazy 88 (with some versions showing different treatments), and select presentations in major markets will be shown in 70mm and 35mm with an intermission. The Whole Bloody Affair has only been shown sporadically at events — including its Cannes 2006 premiere and screenings at Tarantino’s New Beverly and Vista theaters — so this wide release makes the full version available to general audiences for the first time. The film stars Uma Thurman and Lucy Liu alongside the original ensemble, and Tarantino urged fans to experience it "in glorious 70mm or 35mm," with Lionsgate managing distribution.
