NASCAR Xfinity Leader Zilisch Breaks Collarbone Celebrating Watkins Glen Win
Connor Zilisch, the 19-year-old NASCAR Xfinity Series points leader, suffered a broken collarbone after falling from his car in Victory Lane following his sixth win of the season at Watkins Glen. The fall occurred when Zilisch slipped while climbing out of his No. 88 Chevrolet to celebrate, causing him to tumble and injure himself. He was quickly attended to by track medics, immobilized on a backboard, and transported to a hospital, where CT scans ruled out any head injury. Due to the injury, Zilisch was forced to withdraw from the upcoming NASCAR Cup Series race at Watkins Glen, which would have been his fourth Cup start. Despite this setback, Zilisch remains optimistic about his recovery and is grateful the injury was not worse, with his team and fans wishing him a swift return to racing. Prior to the injury, Zilisch had dominated the Xfinity race, leading 60 of 82 laps and maintaining his lead in the series standings.
