Bridgeport Suspect Arrested in 2021 Restaurant Killing
Victor 'Chapo' Colon, 38, has been arrested and charged with murder, accessory to murder, criminal possession of a firearm, and attempted robbery in connection with the 2021 fatal shooting at Copa Bar and Restaurant in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The incident occurred shortly before 1 a.m. on July 11, 2021, during a failed armed robbery involving multiple suspects. Joselito Calderon, a taekwondo instructor and security guard, was shot and killed while attempting to stop the robbery, and another individual, Niel Francisco, was also injured but survived. Colon, a convicted felon, was apprehended while already incarcerated at Robinson Correctional facility. He is being held on a $2 million bond and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on August 11. The police investigation remains active, and further arrests are expected.
