Canada Provides $3K Aid to Gazan Refugees

The Canadian government is providing financial assistance to Gazan refugees, offering $3,000 per adult and $1,500 per child as they arrive in Canada, mirroring a previous program for Ukrainian refugees. This initiative is part of a broader effort to support those fleeing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with 4,782 applications already approved and 616 refugees having arrived. In addition to the cash grants, the refugees will receive temporary health coverage, language training, and work permits. Immigration Minister Marc Miller emphasized that Canada has a unique pathway for extended family members from Gaza, and he reiterated the government's commitment to supporting these individuals as they resettle. Concerns have been raised about the program, with U.S. Senator Marco Rubio warning that it may endanger Canadians. The program allows for a total of 5,000 Gazan refugees to obtain residency permits in Canada.
