Jason Alexander Hobby, a 49-year-old employee of Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch, has been arrested for allegedly starting the Alexander Mountain Fire in Colorado, which burned over 10,000 acres, destroyed 29 homes, and caused more than $30 million in damage. Hobby faces multiple charges including first-degree arson, impersonation of a police officer, menacing, and false imprisonment. Investigators believe the fire was human-caused, originating from a campfire ring. Prior to and during the fire, Hobby reportedly impersonated law enforcement and a firefighter, using modified vehicles to conduct unauthorized traffic stops and access restricted areas. The fire, which began on July 29 and was contained on August 17, involved extensive firefighting efforts from various local, state, and federal agencies. Larimer County Sheriff John Feyen expressed gratitude for the cooperative efforts in investigating and controlling the blaze.
