Tawanda Chirewa Joins Derby County on Loan

Zimbabwean international Tawanda Chirewa has signed a new contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers and subsequently joined Derby County on a season-long loan for the 2024/25 season. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder made ten senior appearances for Wolves after moving from Ipswich Town last summer, but has yet to feature in the current season. His loan to Derby, which is the club's ninth signing this transfer window, is expected to provide him with valuable first-team experience. Chirewa's performances at Wolves' Under-21s earned him a spot in the senior squad, and he has also represented Zimbabwe internationally, scoring in his second appearance. Derby County aims to leverage Chirewa's skills under manager Paul Warne, who previously developed other young talents. Both clubs have expressed optimism about the player's potential impact in the Championship.
