National Police Departments Plan 2025 Prescription Drug Take Back Day Across US
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and thousands of law enforcement partners across the United States are organizing the National Prescription Take Back Day on October 25, 2025, to collect unwanted prescription drugs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Local police departments in Illinois, including Northbrook, Glenview, and Arlington Heights, will participate in this event. The initiative aims to prevent drug misuse, reduce accidental poisonings, protect the environment, and keep communities safe by providing secure medication disposal. In Arkansas, the Arkansas Drug Take Back Day is also set for October 25, supported by multiple state agencies and featuring nearly 300 permanent drop boxes statewide for year-round disposal. The previous nationwide event in April 2025 collected over 620,000 pounds of medications, while Arkansas alone collected 28,764 pounds during that period. Organizers emphasize the importance of participation to protect individuals and communities from the dangers of unused medications.
